Washed of Coarse Salt

// mural made with soil, tree sap, honey; sound, hand-made paper

Washed of coarse salt reflects on missing pieces of stories and histories and tries to imagine a visual narrative that embodies what is and was unheard.

It seems that so many of the stories that are forgotten, never told or have never even been thought of belong to the non-human agents such as rivers, stones, small organisms and plants.
I imagined a visual language based on the voices of branches, scratches and animal paths, that created sort of a feral alphabet. Transformed and derived through drawings, I then created a mural on an old stone wall in the forest of Šumava. The imaginary tale is made from soil and paper, all natural biodegradable materials that will wash away with the heavy rains. The temporality and becoming a part of the surroundings is an inherent part of my message. In dialogue with the first mural, I transferred a part of it to the gallery, some of the lines copy the gaps in between stones of the old wall. Attached with tree sap and honey the soil walks paths that will dry out and fall back into the ground.

To guide the abstract tale of the pathways, I wrote and recorded two earthly poems, hoping they would overlap and finally merge.
