The Water Drinks Me
// animation video for the Czech Philharmonic and Galerie Rudolfinum (supported by Lunchmeat Festival)
The Water Drinks Me is a short animated video and sound work built around the repetition of water cycles. A single falling drop repeats endlessly, becoming an alternative kind of timer, a measure that is cyclical rather than linear. Against this looping image, the sound unfolds as an 8-minute composition of found footage, underwater and field recordings.
The contemplative work addresses pollution and symbiotic relationships tied to natural cycles, water crises, and the corporeality bound up with them. Elements and natural filtration systems become tools for narrating ecological contamination and renewal. Matter is understood as communicative, co-shaping the environment we live in and participating in shared experience. The notion of filtration is treated intuitively: minerals, water, organic life, and the waste of civilization meet and act on one another here.
